Text
I appreciate the Minister giving way, and I genuinely welcome the fact that he is up for debate on this. That is to his credit. He talks about coming forward with an alternative: I agree with him. That is why, as an Opposition, we have asked for money to be prioritised. We have tried to come up with alternatives. Does that also go for him and other Executive Ministers? He is right to say that he wants more money from London and that austerity has been terrible over the past 15 years: we agree with that as the Opposition. However, is it not the case that there is a limit to what the Treasury — he and I want a different constitutional future — will do and how much it will listen? Is part of the alternative more fiscal devolution, as I talked to him about earlier, and producing plans for how we can raise more revenue here, take more powers here and, ultimately, take more of the power away from London?
