Text

There are at least two aspects to the issue. The first is about support for public bodies and government agencies, for which I am directly responsible along with my Executive colleagues. In our initial response to storm Éowyn, we were able to allocate £17 million or thereabouts. The second is about responsibility for other matters, such as utilities. Setting aside NI Water, which is a publicly owned company, responsibility rests with the utility companies. Whether it is electricity, broadband, internet connections etc, there is a huge onus on those companies to ensure that they look after their customers in the wake of the storm and ensure that they are properly compensated for their loss.
