Text
As I mentioned, childcare is, rightly, a priority for the whole Executive. It is a priority in the draft Programme for Government (PFG) because, collectively, we recognise the huge challenges for parents struggling with access to affordable childcare and for childcare providers in the cost of doing business. The research is really important in determining what interventions are necessary to provide the most appropriate support for childcare providers and offer best value for money. The Department is taking forward other actions on skills, for example, to support childcare providers and ensure that a pipeline of people comes through, because we know that that is also a challenge.
