Text

There are two reasons for that. First, fairness, and secondly, safety. Sport is inherently physical. The physiology of the sexes matters. Everyone should be getting behind the notion that women's sports are reserved for women. Most people will agree with that. In fact, it is regressive to think anything else.

Assessment

Not flagged

Not flagged on a second assessment, because Jev’s answers did not settle it. The reasons are given below.

  • Overall probability that the activity is being used to promote, exploit or escalate an identity-based controversy: 0.45 (flagging needs at least 0.70; at or below 0.30 is not flagged).
  • Criteria met: Identity framing (0.73); Dog-whistle messaging (0.65).
  • The text adopts the identity-based framing in its own voice (0.51).
  • Subject area: Gender, sexuality, abortion and related social issues.
  • The answers did not meet either automatic threshold.

This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.

Second assessment

Jev’s answers did not settle this record, so a second model, claude-opus-5-5, read the same text (without the MLA’s name or party) and gave its reasons on 21 October 2026. How the second assessment works

Against the published rubric

The text addresses a recognised flashpoint, the eligibility of transgender women in female sport, but argues its position on stated practical grounds, "fairness" and "safety", and that "the physiology of the sexes matters" in a physical activity. It uses none of the loaded language the rubric lists, such as "ideology", ridicule or predator tropes, and it does not portray trans people as a group as a threat. The closing appeal that "most people will agree" and that "it is regressive to think anything else" is a rhetorical flourish against opponents. It does not amount to hostility towards a community or a framing of the issue as a contest of identities.

Public interest or divisiveness

The contribution sets out a policy position on sports eligibility using arguments that sports governing bodies themselves debate, so it deals with the substance of a live policy question. The final lines dismiss the opposing view as "regressive" and invoke a majority, which adds some point-scoring on a divisive subject. That rhetoric is a substantial part of a short text, so both elements are present, but the substantive policy argument is the main thread.
