Text
I thank the Member for his good wishes. I do not agree with his comments about the Department. What I said was that the Department had limited levers with a number of telecommunication companies. They are private companies regulated by Ofcom, and telecommunications is a reserved matter. Fibrus is the company that we have a relationship with, and there has been engagement with it. I am happy to relay the comments that are being made today, and I am sure that they will be taken on board. We need to see reconnections happening as quickly as possible and, as some Members have said, an improvement in contact with customers. I am sure that the company would tell us that that was, perhaps, lacking because the efforts were going into the reconnection effort. However, people need to be reassured about the work that is going on and the time frames for reconnections. Clearly, there is a need to step up that communication.
