Text
On a point of order, Mr Speaker. The Standing Orders and conventions of the House are clear that if issues of government policy or budgetary matters are to be announced, they should be announced in the House. As Chairman of the Economy Committee, I, alongside my colleagues, have attempted for weeks to get details of the Economy Minister's proposed allocation of £45 million for local economic partnerships. Despite our not receiving that information, the Minister made that announcement directly to the media yesterday — once again, bypassing the Committee and the House. Will you, Mr Speaker, inform Members how we can stand up for our constituents and ensure that we can ask questions of the Ministers who are allocating that vital public funding?
