Text
As of 31 January 2025, the HIA Redress Board had received 4,904 compliant applications and made determinations totalling over £100 million. A total of 56 applications are still to be determined by a panel. The turnaround time for validated applications is 7·5 weeks, with a success rate of over 88% for applications that fall within the board’s jurisdiction. The Executive Office has engaged closely with victims and survivors’ representatives on enhancements to the wider redress process, including providing additional resources to the Victims and Survivors Service to ensure that applicants can be supported in a trauma-informed way with their statements of experience. As the final date for applications — 2 April 2025 — is fast approaching, we encourage all victims and survivors who have not yet applied to contact the Commissioner for Survivors of Institutional Childhood Abuse as soon as possible for information and advice.
