Text
On a point of order, Mr Speaker. As you are aware, the Secretary of State has refused to pull the Stormont brake in spite of the request to do so by every unionist in the House. Does not today's decision expose the basis on which devolution was restored as a sham? Mr Speaker, do you expect to remain in office in light of the fact that the main unionist party should pull the plug on these institutions, which are built on sinking sand?

- Subject area: Constitutional question, Brexit, the Windsor Framework and sovereignty.

Second assessment
Jev’s answers did not settle this record, so a second model, claude-opus-5-5, read the same text (without the MLA’s name or party) and gave its reasons on 21 October 2026. How the second assessment works

- Mainly advances divisiveness
Against the published rubric
The text is a point of order in form only; it raises nothing about procedure and instead registers that a request by "every unionist in the House" was refused. It frames the Stormont brake decision as one community's will being overridden, and calls the basis of devolution "a sham" built "on sinking sand". It urges "the main unionist party" to "pull the plug" on the institutions, without engaging with what the regulations concerned actually do. That is communal grievance and escalation on a constitutional flashpoint rather than scrutiny, so it meets the rubric even though no group is attacked directly.
Public interest or divisiveness
Opposing the Windsor Framework and the use of the Stormont brake is a legitimate political position. But this contribution does not deal with the substance of any measure or seek information. Its evident function is to cast power-sharing as illegitimate on behalf of one community and to press for the collapse of shared institutions. That mainly advances division rather than the general public interest.
