Text
We were a long time in a period of uncertainty. It then took us a long time to get to the point at which we had the Windsor framework. The mechanisms that have been agreed are agreed. They are the democratic mechanisms through which to deal with the issues. The Stormont brake will not be pulled on this occasion, but let us continue to find a resolution to the issue that was identified. Let us be pragmatic about it instead of grandstanding or trying to be overtly political about it. We are where we are because we have been taken out of Europe against our wishes — that is my personal view — and we have to deal with the consequences of that in a post-Brexit world. That is what we are dealing with. I want us to create certainty and stability for the business community, and, where issues are identified, we should try to find a resolution to them.
