Text
Absolutely, there will be measurable targets in the Programme for Government. It is important to say that we know that the Budget at the moment is challenging. We are working hard with, for example, the Health Minister, the Minister of Education and others to ensure that there is a satisfactory outcome on public-sector pay settlements. We know that there is huge pressure on the Budget in doing so, and it is likely to be the same next year. The key thing is that we set targets that are realistic but have some aspiration about them. The targets also need to be scalable so that, when additional money is available, we will be able to grow our ambition by resetting those targets and increasing what we need to achieve. We are actively looking at that, and targets will be set out.
