Text
I am aware that carers continue to press for that right. I have said that quite a lot of our 'good jobs' employment rights Bill, which we are consulting on, relates to carers and their rights. I would like to see a situation where people are entitled to paid carers' leave. That will be a matter for the Executive; it is not in my gift alone. Obviously, we sincerely hope that, by the time that we get to legislate for that, the financial position will have improved. We will continue, through the Finance Minister, to press the British Government for a financial settlement and an arrangement that supports the provision of public services and supports the rights of carers and others to access paid leave.
