Text
I thank the Minister for his statement. DAERA recently published the 'Northern Ireland Greenhouse Gas Inventory'. Based on the Department's document and data on the average rate of emissions reduction, Professor David Rooney, an energy expert in Queens University — I am sure that the Minister knows him — suggests that, at the current rate, net zero will be reached only by 2118: 68 years after the 2050 target. Does the Minister agree that Northern Ireland is falling increasingly behind? That is the understatement in the question.
