Text
I thank the Member for her question. She will be aware that the work of the redress board is winding down. However, the pain, the trauma and the issues will continue for many years beyond the closure of the scheme and will, indeed, impact those who were involved for the rest of their lives, so there are needs. We are doing a number of things through, for example, the support mechanisms of the Victims and Survivors Service, which, along with Advice NI and other organisations, has taken on the new role of trying to support victims of historical institutional abuse. It is important that, as we move towards the scheme's closure, we look at a range of supports. We will take a look at your proposal. What we want is a system and a service that meet the needs of victims, no matter what they look like. We will actively consider that.
