Text
As I indicated yesterday, the changes to rate relief in England for retail, hospitality and leisure have led to a reduction in our Barnett consequential for this year, along with some other rate reliefs of about £80 million that were removed or changed. As the Member is aware, we still face significant issues in relation to our own Budgets, including that for this financial year and into next year. I have recognised and do recognise the many challenges facing businesses. I recognise that the increases in National Insurance, the real living wage and national minimum wage will put additional challenges on our businesses, so I am keen to work with businesses, and I will be looking at how we can work together to address some of those challenges.
