Text

Minister, you noted that the Law Society and the Bar say that the system is broken. There are sustained increases in work pressures, real-time cuts and payment delays. We have heard about solicitors walking away from legal aid. We also heard, just last week, that solicitors are failing to come to the north-west to provide services due to cost and time. I welcome a whole-system approach, and reform is coming. Can you throw some light on how you will ensure that legal aid will continue to be available across the North and how you will ensure fair access to justice?
