Text

I appreciate your reiterating those points. Given the positive nature of the debate, I was hoping that we could get to these questions: what can we do, and what do we intend to do? It is only fair for the residents of Warrenpoint that those questions are their measurement for this place. What is it that you actually have the power to do? Do the Minister, the Department and NIEA have the power to reduce the levels of waste that are permitted to be stored? Do they have the powers to direct it as a transit site only? The question, then, is this: will the Minister and the Department exercise those powers? That is the clarity that residents need.
