Text
We recognise the important role that high streets play in our society in more ways than one. They drive the economy and create shared spaces where society thrives. We know that the nature of our high streets and the way that people shop is changing, and we need new solutions to those issues. The report presented to us by the high street task force represents a genuine collaboration across many sectors, including central and local government, academia and the third sector, as well as businesses. That collaborative approach must continue over the coming years to deliver high streets and village, town and city centres that are fit for the 21st century. We thank the members of the high street task force for their work. The report makes 14 recommendations, and we will shortly write to Executive colleagues to ask them to take forward the appropriate recommendations.
