Text

On a point of order, Mr Speaker.

I wish to raise a point of order under Standing Order 65, following last week's disturbing developments regarding child safeguarding and the former Sinn Féin press officer Mr Michael McMonagle. We have been made aware of his continued access to this very Building. Every answer that has been given so far raises further questions. In the interests of full transparency, will the Speaker confirm when Sinn Féin notified the Assembly and terminated Mr McMonagle's Stormont access pass? Has the Assembly's safeguarding policy been compromised as a result of Sinn Féin's not notifying the Assembly? Further to that point of order, will the Assembly confirm which Sinn Féin MLAs employed Mr McMonagle, and whether they include the First Minister, Michelle O'Neill?

Assessment

Not flagged

Jev’s structured answers met the documented threshold for “not flagged”.

  • Overall probability that the activity is being used to promote, exploit or escalate an identity-based controversy: 0.44 (flagging needs at least 0.70; at or below 0.30 is not flagged).
  • None of the five culture-war criteria was met (each was below 0.60).
  • No identity-based framing was identified (0.79).
  • The overall probability was low and the text did not adopt any identity-based framing.

This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.
