Text

Thank you for your statement, Minister. During your conversations, was there any consideration of the standardisation of Irish and Ulster Scots? I know that there has been talk about a dictionary. The wealth and the generosity of language come from the variations. We know that "thran" in Ulster Scots means something very different in different parts of the country. What input, therefore, have native speakers?

  • No identity-based framing was identified (0.96).
  • Subject area: Irish language, Ulster-Scots and language policy.
  • The overall probability was at or below the not-flagging threshold.

This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.
