Text

The role of the accounting officer is the one role that I, as Minister, do not have oversight of in my Department. In fact, it is the reverse. It is the accounting officer who oversees my directions on expenditure, so I am not sighted on his correspondence in his role as accounting officer. Also, to be frank, the leaking of that into the public domain has not been helpful because it has created a very false narrative of the relationship between the Department and the Chief Constable and between myself and the Chief Constable. That relationship has been very strong. Before we have a debate on this later, I remind Members that at the Policing Board as recently as last Thursday, the Chief Constable said that he wished to draw a line under this. So, perhaps if we are so concerned about policing and the Chief Constable, we might want to take his advice.

Assessment

Not flagged

Jev’s structured answers met the documented threshold for “not flagged”.

  • Overall probability that the activity is being used to promote, exploit or escalate an identity-based controversy: 0.06 (flagging needs at least 0.70; at or below 0.30 is not flagged).
  • None of the five culture-war criteria was met (each was below 0.60).
  • No identity-based framing was identified (0.99).
  • The overall probability was at or below the not-flagging threshold.

This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.
