Text
The Member will see from the Programme for Government that the input from the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs has a lot of focus on environmental issues and targets, but it would be absolutely remiss of us not to recognise the incredibly important role that farmers and our agri-food businesses play in Northern Ireland and that they need to be supported. The majority of our farmers, producers and agri-food companies are small to medium-sized businesses, creating employment for local people, and, as I said, producing high-quality, nutritious, local food. They need to be supported, and they should be supported. We should all be champions of that, and we should all be very proud of our agri-food and farming community here.
