Text
I put on record my thanks to the Justice Minister for her constructive engagement on setting the Budget and on June monitoring. She was very clear about the pressures facing the PSNI and pressures right across the justice system, and I have taken on board what she said. I will not put words in her mouth, but I think that she will recognise that I have tried to make additional allocations to support the Department of Justice, through an additional £95 million in its budget for 2024-25, which was announced on 25 April, and then through additional funding in the June monitoring round. We all recognise the challenges that we face with our public finances. I am committed to continuing to make the case to the incoming British Government later this week that we need to see proper investment in our public services, including in the Department of Justice.
