Text

I thank the Minister for his substantial statement and for his pre-briefing to me on the contents of it. The Committee will welcome the allocation of £6 million to continue the SKILL UP programme. Will you indicate how many course places that provides? I particularly welcome the focus and funding that you have placed on Queen's University for those from under-represented backgrounds. The Minister will be aware that, at Queen's University, the most under-represented are those from working-class Protestant communities, particularly from the constituency of North Belfast, which I represent. Will you give a breakdown of how those 50 places will be allocated to those from under-represented backgrounds?
