Text

Does the Member agree with me? In Hunter's Mill in my constituency, the practice was that the buildings did not need to be piled because of the flood maps, but now, many years after they were built, those maps show that they are on a floodplain. The houses, the sewerage system and the road network are all giving way, and the residents cannot sell their houses because people are not able to get mortgages. While that may not necessarily be a case of defective building materials, decisions that have been taken have left those people in a hopeless situation. We would like clarity about whether the Bill might provide some hope for them as well.
