Text

Provision of high-quality, affordable childcare is a priority for the Executive. On 23 May, the Education Minister outlined a package of measures for early learning and childcare that has been agreed by the Executive. One element of the package is a targeted business support scheme for childcare providers to assist those in financial difficulty and in areas where the demand for childcare exceeds supply. The Executive have initially earmarked £2 million for that purpose. Invest NI has nominated an official to work with my officials and the Department of Education on the design of the scheme. The involvement of my Department and Invest NI will be important to ensure alignment with other business support interventions and compliance with state subsidy requirements.
