Text
As I said, we are seeing pressures in respite provision because we have a reduced number of facilities and staff and a higher level of acuity and more intense cases. I have not seen the message from the individual to whom the Member refers, but we recognise that there is more to be done. I am challenging our trusts on the provision across all areas so that we can improve not just long-term respite facilities but short-break provision. To gain a better understanding of that provision across the region, as I said, my Department has developed a monitoring framework to capture monthly data. The children with disabilities framework is also being finalised by my Department in response to the increasing challenges that are faced by families of children with disabilities and the corresponding difficulties experienced by trusts in meeting the rising demand and the increased complexity of need.
