Text
Ensuring that disabled people in Northern Ireland have the same rights and opportunities as the rest of our community is a key priority for me. I am considering the next steps in the development of an Executive disability strategy, which I intend to be taken forward at pace. The strategy will include consideration of the need for a review and reform of disability legislation, which will include consideration of the benefits to be gained by incorporating the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into devolved legislation. Final decisions on the timing of the implementation of the strategy will be subject to Executive agreement.
