Text
I am delighted to hear that Northern Ireland will play host to its first ever Test match when Ireland takes to the field against Zimbabwe at Stormont in July. We know how important it is and what a feather in the cap it is for Northern Ireland. Sport NI's chief executive has confirmed that, over the past five years, a total of just under £1·4 million has been provided to Cricket Ireland as the governing body for cricket. In addition, a total of 151 service days for sporting expertise have been provided to Cricket Ireland team members since 2021. I welcome any contact from Cricket Ireland to discuss its plans. However, I would stress that there is still uncertainty regarding my Department's budget allocation and what additional support could be provided.
