Text
The decision to close PSNI enquiry offices is entirely an operational matter for the Chief Constable, who is accountable to the Northern Ireland Policing Board. As I am committed to respecting the operational independence of the chief and the role of the Northern Ireland Policing Board, it would not be appropriate for me to give an assessment of whether Musgrave Street police station will have sufficient capacity to respond to in-person enquiries in a timely manner. However, the Member may wish to direct his question directly to the Chief Constable. It is important to acknowledge that the resourcing challenges faced in policing are replicated across all parts of the justice system, and that, without additional significant resources for my Department, the current levels of service across the board will simply not be able to be maintained.
