Text
First, the New Decade, New Approach commitment was to 7,500 officers. The figure of 7,200 officers was provided by the previous Deputy Chief Constable, Stephen Martin, as advice on the numbers required. The figure of 6,900 to 7,200 came from the Leapwise report, which was commissioned by the Chief Constable and shared with the Policing Board and me. The conclusion of that report stated that policing numbers should be in the region of 6,900 to 7,200 officers.
