Access to Further Education
That this Assembly recognises the vital role of further education in delivering the skills our economy needs, improving productivity, supporting regional balance and providing pathways into employment and further learning; expresses concern at cuts to further education and skills provision and the resulting loss of courses and learner places; notes that these pressures have been exacerbated by the Executive’s failure to agree a budget; believes that the current funding and governance arrangements for further education require examination to ensure the sector is properly valued and sustainably funded; and calls on the Minister for the Economy to protect access to further education as part of an ambitious skills agenda.
