Response to the Cost-of-living Crisis - Amendment 2

Leave out all after ‘facing workers’ and insert:

‘, families and businesses as a result of the conflict in the Middle East and the resulting rise in fuel and energy costs; further notes that Northern Ireland is particularly exposed to such pressures because of its reliance on road transport, rural travel and fuel-intensive sectors including agriculture, haulage and domiciliary care; recognises that the Northern Ireland Executive cannot control global events, but can and should take practical steps to support those most affected; further recognises that the main levers in relation to fuel duty, VAT and wider taxation rest with our national government; and calls on the Executive, working with the His Majesty's Government, to bring forward urgent measures to alleviate these pressures, including the extension of rural fuel duty relief, support for domiciliary care providers and workers, reduced public transport fares, and targeted assistance for those sectors facing the greatest burden.’
