Response to the Cost-of-living Crisis - Amendment 3
Leave out all after ‘as a result of’ and insert: ‘rising tensions in the Middle East and the decisions of successive Conservative and Labour Governments to elevate net zero targets over our energy security needs; further notes that the UK Government’s response has been insufficient; acknowledges that, while most taxation and fiscal powers lie with the UK Government, the Minister for Communities has presented a Fuel Poverty Strategy that includes a Warm Healthy Homes fund which has received Executive agreement, and has recently presented proposals to the Executive to address the rising costs of home heating oil including advocating for an increase in the funding available; and calls on the Northern Ireland Executive to press the UK Government to deliver an enhanced package of support measures to alleviate pressures facing workers and businesses, including measures such as a reduction in fuel duty, cutting VAT charges on home heating oil, support for those working in domiciliary care, the extension of rural fuel duty relief, and targeted support for industries that have been most affected.’
