Text

Development of a Sports Museum

That this Assembly is proud of Northern Ireland’s exceptional sporting legacy; notes that individuals who have been successful in their sport do not always receive the standalone recognition they deserve; recognises the need for a sports museum in Northern Ireland to celebrate their success and encourage future generations to consider taking up a sport and to continue to add to our sporting legacy; highlights the economic benefit this museum could bring to our local economy, including increased tourism; and calls on the Minister for Communities to work with the Minister for the Economy to establish a working group, comprised of key sporting stakeholders, to explore the feasibility and appetite for such a museum.
