Recognising the Importance of Food Security - Amendment 2
Leave out all after ‘environmentally sustainable practices;’ and insert:
‘acknowledges that food security is shaped not only by domestic production but also by wider factors including household income, supply chain resilience, access to nutritious food, global market volatility and the growing impacts of climate change; recognises that addressing food insecurity also requires a strong and well-resourced anti-poverty strategy, including measures such as expanded access to free school meals and support for low-income households; calls on the Executive to bring forward legislation to enshrine the right to food, ensuring a holistic approach to food security that protects producers, empowers consumers and tackles the driving causes of food poverty to build a resilient, fair and sustainable food system for all.’
