The Executive’s Approach to Hate - Amendment 5
Leave out all after ‘inadequate’ and insert:
‘calls on the Executive to combat all forms of hate crime by introducing hate crime legislation by the end of this Assembly mandate, undertaking an immediate review of the Tackling Paramilitarism, Criminality and Organised Crime programme and ensuring that the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunal Service and the PSNI are adequately resourced to deal with criminality robustly and expediently; and further calls on the Minister of Justice to ensure that the shared vision and strategic priorities of the Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland address emerging challenges, including the rise in hate crime, that the judiciary receive up-to-date training on the impact of these crimes on communities, and that sentencing, within existing guidelines, reflects the seriousness of the offence.’
