Investing in and improving Neurology Services
That this Assembly welcomes the Regional Review of Neurology Services and acknowledges the significant importance of the review for those living with long-term neurological conditions; notes with grave concern that despite the hard work and dedication of the neurology workforce, the current system is at breaking point and patients’ needs are not being met; recognises the importance of early diagnosis and access to specialist care to ensuring improved quality of life; further notes that over 11,000 people remain on waiting lists for over a year for a first outpatient appointment, and expresses concern for the risks to health and quality of life associated with late diagnosis; and calls on the Minister of Health to work with the Minister of Finance to ensure an adequate investment plan is secured to improve services, grow the workforce, reduce waiting lists and improve quality of life for those living with long-term neurological conditions.
