Justice and the Rule of Law - Amendment 3
Leave out all after ‘Policing in Northern Ireland;’ and insert: ‘recognises the positive transformation and strong public confidence in policing and justice in Northern Ireland despite resourcing challenges, unresolved legacy issues and the frequent politicisation of operational policing; notes that Northern Ireland has the lowest rate of crime when compared to all police forces in England and Wales; further acknowledges the valuable contribution of Northern Ireland’s bespoke policing oversight arrangements toward maintaining and enhancing public safety and confidence; and calls on the Executive to work with the Minister of Justice to address the historical underfunding of her Department to enable the level of investment the justice system and policing needs.’
