Extreme Pressures in Primary Care - Amendment 2
Leave out all after ‘regrets’ and insert:
‘that for too long the number of local GP training places was inadequate and welcomes the previous and ongoing decision of the Minister of Health to increase them; believes that repeated political impasse and the regular absence of a functioning Assembly and Executive, combined with a lack of any agreed multi-year funding settlements, contributed to a damaging failure to train, recruit, retain and reward staff which further limited progress toward the rollout of multi-disciplinary teams in local primary care settings; welcomes the recent agreement on the General Medical Services contract with GPs for 2024/25, which included £5 million to be dedicated to GP indemnity; and calls on the Minister of Health to provide an update on GP training places and the existing regional GP fellowship programme for newly qualified GPs as part of an ambitious, costed and time-bound plan to grow the primary care workforce.’
