Text

To ask the Minister of Justice to detail (i) any assessment her Department has made of the impact of the Prisoner Support Project pilot, ending on 30 June 2026, on (a) reoffending rates; (b) prison population pressures; and (c) public expenditure; and (ii) whether she will secure continuation funding, ahead of that date, given that the most recent Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency data shows that 46 per cent of adults released from custody reoffend within one year, and that Extern's independently evaluated Prisoner Support Project delivers structured pre-release and post-release support at approximately £10.50 per participant, per day, compared to £156 per day for custody.
