Text
Like many other Members of the House, I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ciara Mageean, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to her husband, Tommy, her mummy and daddy, her siblings, her friends and everyone who loved her. Ciara's achievements in athletics brought immense pride to her, to her community and to people across Ireland. She was so courageous in her battle against cancer. I only hope, as we all do, that her family can take some comfort from the outpouring of admiration, respect and love for Ciara. She really was a champion of champions. May she for ever be the star of County Down. The DUP's decision to disrupt and block the operation of the Executive Office is undemocratic, arrogant and supremacist. At the core of it all is the DUP's inability to comprehend a nationalist First Minister. In 2024, as an Irish republican and nationalist, I took the office of First Minister. It was a historic moment and a moment of hope, opportunity and enormous change. I have worked every single day to deliver positive change for everyone in our community. Unfortunately, throughout that time, the DUP has spent the past two years desperately trying to turn back the clock and undermine democracy. It tried to relive the dark days of supremacy on the Garvaghy Road. I was proud to have stood with the Garvaghy Road community. I have a message for those sitting opposite me: the days of domination are over, the days of treating others as second-class citizens are over, and the days of telling nationalists to know their place are over and are not coming back. I stand here today every bit as much the First Minister as I was this time last week, and as I was when I took up this office on that historic day. You can play every petty political game and perform every stunt that you wish to, but you cannot and will not thwart the democratic will of the people. I have a very clear and very strong mandate from the people, which I will fulfil every day. As First Minister, I have been working tirelessly to secure fair funding in order to deliver fair pay for our nurses, healthcare workers and public-sector staff, and to invest in our public services. I will continue to stand up for people, to fight for good public services, and to deliver for everyone right across our community. That is my focus, and I will not be distracted by anyone or anyone's games.

- The text adopts the identity-based framing in its own voice (0.71).
- Subject area: Sectarianism, hate crime and community relations.
- All thresholds for flagging were met.
What a flag means. A flag means the activity contains at least one instance of culture-war framing that met the published test. It does not mean the whole activity is divisive, or that its substantive arguments are wrong.
This is an AI-generated assessment of the text, made against published criteria. It is not a finding of fact about the MLA or their intentions. The Assembly record itself is the fact.

A second, larger AI model can read this record again, without being told the MLA’s name or party, against the same published rubric. It also asks whether the activity mainly serves the public interest or mainly advances division. Its verdict replaces the current one, whichever way it goes, and its reasons are published here. Each record can have one second assessment.
If you still think the record or its classification is wrong after that, or the record itself has a factual error, you can challenge it. A person reads every challenge, and any change is recorded publicly above with its reason.
