Text
I thank the Member for taking an intervention. I think that he is wrong. People do care where the money comes from, because they pay their taxes and National Insurance contributions, and that money goes to the British Government. People out there do not believe that they should have to pay again. They are not sitting and thinking, "Let's give it to Scotland and Wales. Let's give them billions extra, and I'll pay again for the services to which I'm entitled". They therefore do care where it comes from. It should come from the British Government, to whom they pay their taxes.
