Text
Thank you, Connie. Animal welfare is a priority for me and my Department. We are moving from ambition to delivery, with a substantial package of reforms that will strengthen protections for animals. Legislation that mandates the use of CCTV in slaughterhouses is now in place. I secured Executive approval to bring forward Lucy's law, which will prohibit third-party sales of puppies and kittens, and I will soon lay legislation in the House to introduce those vital protections. We have delivered a campaign on responsible dog ownership, and we will continue the implementation of the animal welfare pathway.
