Text
The decision to ring-fence the earmarked fund for agriculture, agri-environment, fisheries and rural development for the previous year and future years was a significant achievement. That is not the case when you look at the wider picture in England and Scotland. You asked me about the budgetary position; as you are probably aware, we do not have a Budget in Northern Ireland. We continue to engage with the UK Government in order to ensure that we will have a fair funding settlement. In those engagements, our priority has been to meet our statutory obligations. It is important that l continue to focus on that, but I am also conscious of the wider pressures on other Departments as well.
