Text
Scrabo Country Park, like all our country parks and nature reserves, is an important local asset with significant tourism, recreational and community value. The park is managed under an operational management plan that sets out planned improvement projects and routine maintenance, which is subject to available funding. This year, planned works include routine grounds maintenance, repairs to steps in the park and improvements to surfaced areas of the main car park. The walled garden is managed as a mixture of amenity grassland and wildflower habitat, providing visual amenity and biodiversity benefits. I have asked my officials to engage with the Department for Communities and Ards and North Down Borough Council to explore opportunities to further develop and promote Scrabo Country Park as a visitor destination.
