Text
My Department is fully committed to the long-term future, sustainability and enhancement of Roe Valley Country Park, which is one of Northern Ireland's most important natural and recreational assets. Alongside an ongoing programme of routine maintenance, inspections and site-management activities, the operational management plan identifies a number of significant infrastructure improvements, including reroofing the corn store; the restoration and maintenance of the historic lades; repairs to the Blue Bridge and associated steps; the construction of a new bridge at Dog Leap; and the creation, fencing and landscaping of a riverside path upstream of Dog Leap. Subject to the availability of capital funding, those projects will help to protect and enhance the park's environmental, heritage and recreational value; improve the visitor experience; and support the long-term sustainable management of that important public asset. They demonstrate my Department's long-term ambition to invest in Roe Valley Country Park to protect and enhance its internationally important habitats, wildlife and cultural heritage while ensuring that visitors can continue to enjoy safe, accessible and high-quality recreational opportunities.
