Text
I will take no lessons on accountability from the DUP. After all, it was the DUP that delivered Brexit, the renewable heat incentive (RHI) scheme, climate denial, hypocrisy and collapsing the institutions — a catalogue of scandals that are eroding confidence in the institutions. It is clear that populism has a grip on the DUP and political unionism more broadly. Instead of showing the leadership needed to make this place work for everyone, you are determined to drive division and heighten tensions to distract from your failures. The sad reality is that the politicians on my right are not interested in making Northern Ireland work. They are seeking to dismantle the institutions and undermine the very United Kingdom that they claim to support. Time and again, the DUP has proven itself to be own-goal specialists with no strategy, no vision and nothing to offer to the electorate.
