Text
Given that we heard the judgement only in the past week or so, analysis will have to be done on it, but the outcome of the case is the right one. It is great to see the green light being given to the A5 project. It also shows us that the understanding of the climate change legislation is as we had all considered it to be, although the courts had previously taken a different position. A number of big capital projects that were being held up because of the court case can now go ahead because we have the green light. It will be a number of weeks before we have a full analysis of what the judgement means for capital projects more widely, but I know that, in my office, for example, some elements of the investment strategy were being held up because we were awaiting the decision, with its major implications. Now that it has happened, there should be no reason for delay, and we should be able to move forward with the investment strategy and the enabling actions to allow us to do all our big capital projects.
