Text
I thank the Member. He has been here only a short time, but he has managed to weave an incredible supplementary question into this topic. I am very alive to the issue. It is something that I have been contacted about not just because I am the Health Minister but because people understand my acute interest in the space of learning disability and respite services. I am fully aware of the issues relating to the provision of services by incredABLE in the Southern Trust area and the issue of the cease-and-desist letter, which is the piece that people are talking about in the media at the moment. The closure date was to be around 13 October or perhaps the end of October. The RQIA has subsequently agreed to extend the cease-and-desist date to 31 December — something that I contacted it about — and notified all relevant parties accordingly. My officials continue to engage with the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority as a matter of urgency, as I fully recognise the importance of trying to find a solution that will allow the service to continue.
