Text
That is an operational matter for NI Water. However, we sought an update, and NI Water advised that, in the past five years, five incidents at that location can be attributed to burst water mains. The most recent incident, as the Member will be aware, was on 30 September, when contractors working on behalf of NI Water attended and removed the excess water from the road on the same day. NI Water recognises the inconvenience caused by that event, but, given the low incident rate, has no current plans to replace any of the water mains at that location. Under my Department's current limited service policy, the East Link Road gullies were last cleaned on 2 October this year, with no defects reported. Hopefully, that gives some confidence that everything has been checked in the way that it should be. We will, however, continue to keep it under review.
